The Start Of The End For The NBA Season

In April, The NBA regular season ended and the NBA playoffs started. 16 teams play in multiple 7 game series and have a chance to win it all. Since April, all but two teams have been eliminated; The Boston Celtics and The Golden State Warriors. The two teams will face off in a 7 game series to determine who will become world champions. Both teams have had historic seasons, but only one team will come out as the greatest team in the world.

The Celtic’s have had one of the best comebacks in a season ever. In January, They were 23-24, and 10th in the Eastern Conference. In only 3 months, they turned their season around, ending 51-31 and second In the eastern conference. Led by young stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, they strolled their way to the finals, beating the Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Miami Heat.

On the other hand, The Golden State Warriors came back this season healthy, with the return of NBA champion Klay Thompson. This playoffs was the first time we had seen Klay Thompson share the court with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green since 2019. The big 3 did not disappoint, as they strolled through the reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, as well as the Memphis Grizzlies and the Dallas Mavericks.

As the two best teams in the league, it wouldn’t be right to heavily favor one team over the other. NBA fans at Vanden learned this, as their predictions were split evenly. Junior Kai Sanchez remarked, “I’m not biased towards any team, but I guess I’ll say the Celtics will win because their defense is pretty good. Tatum is pretty nice too.”

On the other hand, Junior Jordan Bulda had a different idea when asked who would win the NBA finals. “Warriors have a better offense, we have too many weapons it’s impossible for us to have an off night.” Bulda added on, “Curry wants this finals MVP, he’s going to get it no doubt about it.”

With the Finals starting this week, all we can hope for as fans is a fun and entertaining game. Will Tataum win his first ring at only 24 years old, or will Steph Curry finally get his finals MVP? All we know for sure is this historic series will be one to remember.
